We had a wonderful Memorial Day celebration with many great friends. It was bittersweet because we were saying goodbye to the Garretts, who are making their new home in California. We can't wait to visit them in Cali. We were blessed with beautiful weather, good food and a seniors wiffle ball tournament :) The kids loved watching their dads play while the moms sat back with some cold drinks. Here are a few pics.

Mother's Day

Catholic Blessing.
Loving God, as a mother gives life and nourishment to her children, so you watch over your Church. Bless these women, that they may be strengthened as Christian mothers. Let the example of their faith and love shine forth. Grant that we, their sons and daughters, may honor them always with a spirit of profound respect.

Each of you is a special mother and have given so much of yourselves to us. We love you.

Erin's 1st Birthday

We celebrated Erin's first birthday a few weeks early at our house. We started the day off in the early afternoon with an Easter egg hunt for the Winner/Homan kids. Then had dinner with family for Erin's birthday. I concoured the ladybug cake and we gave Erin the chocolate covered head to eat. Suprisingly, she loved the black licorice, just like her Godmother, Aunt Tanya. Erin is vibrant and passionate. She laughs at the boys and loves to pet Aspen. She doesn't want anyone to help her hold books and she yells when noone is paying attention to her. She makes funny faces and always smiles when she sees her dad. We have been blessed to have her in our lives

We finished off the evening with a 6 hour trip to the ER for Andrew.  He got a few staples to his scalp to close up a cut - after falling off the swing set. Susan was our escort and kept Andrew busy with the angry birds and talking hippo apps on her phone.

I was recently reading a book about bringing up boys. It mentioned that boys will try risky activities and even if they get hurt they just consider that just an episode of bad luck. So they will try again to see if their luck is better the next time. So true! Andrew went right back outside on the next nice day - he tied the jumprope to the swingset and climbed up the slide. Better luck this time.

Easter 2011

We spend Easter Sunday at Aunt Peg and Uncle Jim's home in Columbus with the Brown and Mackessy families.  It is always nice to have a dozen family members to corral our 3 kids during mass. We had such a great time cooking, hunting eggs and eating.  It always feels like Nana is right there with us in the kitchen getting things ready and cleaning up the dishes. Rob even got in his nap on the comfy couch. The boys finished off the day with a dip in the hottub with boogie boards and squirt toys.
